Calcium Stearate is an insoluble metallic salt produced by saponification reaction of Calcium and Stearic Acid. Calcium Stearate is non-toxic and has multiple applications in different production processes. It is extensively used in the manufacturing of PVC Compounds, Rigid PVC Pipes, Cables, Poly Propylene, Plastic, Explosives, Foundry Chemicals, Cement, Paints, Cosmetics, Pharmaceuticals etc. Calcium Stearate has high stability to heat and light.
- Calcium Stearate is widely used as a stabilizer for PVC resins and lubricant for plastic moulding powders or tablets. It can be used as an external lubricant in PVC processing due to the presence of high amount of Stearic Acid. It promotes fusion and has a high stability to heat.
- Calcium Stearate is used as thickening agent for lubricating grease.
- Calcium stearate is also used as a lubricating agent in paper and paperboard coating compositions. The paper production line utilizes Calcium Stearate to give paper that semi-matte gloss at a lower cost and also to extend the life of the paper.
Its use is also recommended in emulsions, cements, pencils, construction chemicals, paint flattening agent, resin coated sands and foundry chemicals, de-caking agent in food items like onions and cosmetics. Its use has been extended as a neutralizer, colour stabilizer, reducer of fiber breakage and de-agglomerator in PP and HDPE applications.
